Managing Learning Gaps


The Covid pandemic had created a huge learning loss and with the reopening of schools it has become necessary to identify the Learning gaps and take corrective measures to reduce it. As such Vidya Pratishthan under the aegis of Faculty Development Programme had organised the first workshop on ‘Managing Learning Gaps’ at Vidya Pratishthan’s New English Medium School on 28th April,2022. The Resource person was Mrs.Asllesha Thakur,Founder and CEO, LEAD Innovation Pvt. Ltd.

Col. (Retd) Shrish Kamboj, Registrar of Vidya Pratisthan, Mrs. Kalpana Barawkar, Mrs. Yashshwini Nigade,Mrs. Joysey Joseph and Mr. Sachin Pathak were present for the Inaugural Function. Col. (Retd) Shrish Kamboj urged the teacher to take maximum benefit of the workshop. He was of the opinion that if teachers are diligent, sincere and dedicated then the 30 Principals of V.P can shake the whole Maharashtra and the 1600 teachers of V.P can shake the whole of India. 62 Mathematics teachers from 12 V.P. schools participated in the workshop.

The workshop gave an insight how to identify and manage the Learning Gaps using Pedagogy of Effective Learning, and Planning. Teachers were involved in various hands on activities such as to prove algebraic identity by using paper folding, preparing a micro lesson plan, Using Bloom’s Taxonomy while drafting worksheets for Diagnostic test ,Analysing errors in Answer scripts etc. Mrs.Asllesha Thakur also briefed about the Bridge Program and Remedial Program.She urged /advised the teachers to use Khan Academy which will definitely help improve students’ performance. All the participant teachers were awarded with the certificates.








The Art of Teaching is The Art of Assisting Discovery


Vidya Pratishthan had organised a workshop on ‘Effective Early Childhood Education’ under the Faculty Development Programme on 2nd and 3rd June,2022. Hon. Col. (Retd.) Shrish Kamboj, Registrar Vidya Pratishthan, Principal of Vidya Dr. Cyrus Poonawala School Ms. Yashashwini Nigade and Principal of Pratishthan’s English Medium School, Mrs Radha Kore, Principal of Vidya Pratishthan’s Vidya Pratishthan’s New English Medium School Mrs. Joysey Joseph, were present for the inaugural function. 61 teachers from various schools of Vidya Pratishthan attended the 2 days workshop . Hon. Col. (Retd) Shrish Kamboj expressed his views that the Pre-Primary teachers can make the childhood of the students very cheerful. He also wants the schools should link up together to do well. The Resource Person , Mrs Asllesha Thakur, Founder and CEO, LEAD Innovation Pvt. Ltd. began the Session with Ice-breaker/Bingo game wherein the teachers got an opportunity to interact with each other. She briefed the teachers regarding the Importance of EECE, Domains of Development,. Various activities were conducted and demo videos were shown to the teachers. She also insisted that teachers should make sure that their Lesson plans include proper learning objectives, hands-on activities and outcomes. She reminded the teachers that activities are to be pre-planned, should have sensorial touch and should have student centered approach. The activities should have 100% involvement of the kids.

A workshop ‘Effective Early Childhood Education’


Vidya Pratishthan had organised a workshop ‘Effective Early Childhood Education’ under the Faculty Development Programme on Thursday 2nd June, 2022 and Friday 3rd June, 2022. The Resource Person was Mrs Asllesha Thakur, Founder and CEO, LEAD Innovation Pvt. Ltd. Col. (Retd.) Shrish Kamboj, Registrar Vidya Pratishthan, Principals of 3 schools, Mrs Radha Kore, Mrs Yashaswini Nigade and Mrs. Joysey Joseph, were present. 61 teachers were present for the workshop. The Inaugural Function began with the Welcome Speech and Saraswati prayer by Pranjali Khatke. Mrs. Radha Kore, Principal, Vidya Pratishthan’s English Medium School, CBSE briefed about Faculty Development Programme which is been conducted under the guidance of the Executive Committee Members of Vidya Pratishthan and Registrar Col. Shrish Kamboj. Mrs. Radha Kore, Principal, Vidya Pratishthan’s English Medium School, CBSE gave a brief introduction of the Resource person, Mrs Asllesha Thakur. Mrs. Joysey Joseph, Principal, Vidya Pratishthan’s New English Medium School, felicitated Mrs Asllesha Thakur with a sapling and a beautiful hand-made card.

Training Session- Day 1 Mrs Asllesha Thakur began the Session with Ice-breaker/Bingo game wherein the teachers got an opportunity to know each other. Mrs Asllesha Thakur explained the information regarding Importance of ECE, Domains of Development, Sequential ways of teaching and writing, Mathematics in Early Childhood classrooms and Ev.S in Early Childhood Knowledge and Skills through a PPT, various activities and also discussed the same. Asllesha Mam explained the blending of VC, CV and CVC words process in detail by making each teacher do the blending with the letter cards. She also proceeded with the teaching of Sensible and Non-Sensible words and Vocabulary. She ended with how to take reading of Comprehension passage and asking of questions based on passage.

Training Session- Day 2 The session started with an energetic game Fire on the Mountain where teachers had to move around in Zig-Zag way and group into a number told. Further the groups were asked questions based on Day 1 session and were told to discuss and share with everyone. Mrs Asllesha Ma’am took the session to the next point of teaching sight words in the classroom in an effective manner. She shared a demo video based on it and made each teacher perform demo after her. She explained how to take rote counting, principles based on one to one correspondence, Place values with number cards and shared a video regarding teaching of Place values in classroom. She also made teachers perform the demo using the number cards.

Ma’am stated various key points of Pre-number concepts- *Sorting based on attributes. *Seriation-Order and Patterns. *Conservation-Patterns change but numbers remain same. *Equivalence of Sets- Addition, Subtraction, Making same number sets. *Comparison- Comparing 2 or more objects based on attributes. Further she planned activities based on the above points where teachers were grouped randomly and made to demonstrate. Teachers were provided with handouts for reference and concrete material for demo. Ma’am elaborated on planning the activities and writing a Lesson Plan. She also gave few points to be considered while planning activities- *Exploration and Curiosity in kids. *Logical thinking Problem Solving Skills. *Team work and Collaboration. * Asking of open-ended questions. *Deep understanding of concept and create something new. *Integration with other subjects. *Students should be able to express their learning in different ways. After the activity Ma’am insisted teachers to make sure that plans include proper learning objectives, hands-on activities and outcomes. She reminded the teachers that activities are to be pre-planned, should have sensorial touch, should have a student centered approach. The activities should have 100% involvement of kids. Teacher should ask open-ended questions which will make students observe and think on various attributes.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING


The Faculty Development Programme on Project Based Learning was organized on 23rd July 2022 for Middle School Teachers at Vidya Pratishthan's Dr Cyrus Poonawalla School, Baramati which began with Saraswati Vandana at 9:30 am. There were 60 participants from the Schools of Vidya Pratishthan.

The dignitaries on the stage were Resource Person, Mrs. Aslesha Thakur and the Principals of Vidya Pratishthan Schools, Mrs. Kalpana Barawkar, Mrs. Radha Kore, Mrs. Joysey Joseph and Mrs. Yashaswini Nigade.

The Resource Person was introduced by Mrs. Yashaswini Nigade. She also briefed about the program.Opening remarks for the Faculty Development Programme were given by Mrs. Kalpana Barawkar. The programme progressed with the Bingo activity by Mrs. Aslesha Thakur to make the fellow educators converse with each other. She further explained about essential project design elements with the help of examples.

Through interactive session she made the teachers to go through the different handouts of case studies and asked the teachers to fill the checklist. Before the lunch break, Mrs. Aslesha mainly talked about 21st Century Skills and India's status in the world economy. Further she administered the oath to teachers to make India a Super Power Nation. Her talk was based on the skills to be developed among the students. After the lunch, Mrs. Aslesha divided the teachers into groups as per their similar subject. She asked the teachers to work in group and design a Project including all essential project design elements such as Driving Question, Sustained Enquiry, Authenticity, Student Voice and Choice, Reflection, Critique and Revision and Public Product. Mrs. Aslesha asked the teachers to present the discussed project on a chart paper and explain it to the audience. She appreciated the teachers for their active participation and continuous interaction. The impact and effectiveness of faculty development program in fostering the faculty’s knowledge, skills, and professional competence was outstanding. The Registrar, Vidya Pratishthan Honourable Col. Shrish Kamboj interacted with the teachers about the fruitfulness of the programme and awarded the Certificates to the Participants.

Workshop on ‘Theatre in Education” organised by Vidya Pratishthan in collaboration with the Environmental Forum of India


A workshop on ‘‘Theatre in Education” was organised at Vidya Pratishthan’s Institute of Information Technology on 18th August, 2022. The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Environmental Forum in India. The concept of the program was initiated by Hon. Mrs. Sunetravahini Pawar, Trustee Vidya Pratishthan and Hon. Adv. Neelimatai Gujar, Secretary Vidya Pratishthan, with the aim to introduce teachers to use drama and theatre in everyday teaching. The program was inaugurated by Hon. (Retd.) Col. Shrish Kamboj, Registrar Vidya Pratishthan. The Resource person was Mrs. Radhika Ingale. 39 teachers from V.P. schools and 10 other schools in Baramati Taluka participated in the workshop.

Mrs Radhika Ingale conducted various games and activities for the teachers wherein they had to perform /enact various scenes, enacting advertisement and enhance their skills in expressions, voice modulation and dialogue delivery.

The aim to conduct these activities was to build up coordination, creative thinking etc. She also gave important tips that will be useful while setting-up skits for the students in the school. She guided the teachers throughout the workshop by conducting unique acts such as listening to the sound and recognising the sound. She also advised the teachers to include such type of games and activities in the curriculum.

READING SKILLS


A faculty development programme was organized at Vidya Pratishthan’s NBVM, Pimpli, on 24th September, 2022. Mrs. Aslesha Thakur, CEO and Founder of Lead Innovation was the resource person for the training programme. Teachers from 12 schools of Vidya Pratishthan attended the training.

Mrs. Aslesha Thakur conducted various activities for the teachers. She briefed the teachers about the various reading activities to be conducted in the classroom, which will enable the students to enhance the reading, interpreting and comprehend their text. She also stressed on creating fluency passage, story comprehension, picture comprehension vocabulary based comprehension. She has also briefed about reading comprehension levels – Literal Reading, Interpretive Reading and Critical Reading.
